A new, enhanced EZW image codec with subband classification

In this paper, an enhanced version of Embedded zerotree wavelet (EZW) image coding algorithm is proposed, referred to as EZW-SC. By exploiting a new principle that relies on subband classification concept, the allows prediction insignificant subbands at early passes, along with use improved significance map. This reduces redundancy symbols, speeds up process and improves significant coefficients. fact, EZW-SC scans only significantly lossy compression performance conventional EZW. Moreover, EZW-based schemes are presented perform colour by taking advantage interdependency components. Experimental results show clear superiority proposed algorithms over EZW well other related various bit rates in both greyscale compression.
